On focus
I am not an early riser, mornings have never come easily for me. On any given weekday, I set my alarm(s - I use two) for 7:00, then struggle out of bed an hour later to make it into work somewhere around 9:00. Not a pleasant way to start the day, and not even restful - you'd think that the extra hour or so I get to sleep in would make me more alert and productive once I finally get going, but contarily, I'm actually more focused when I force myself to wake up early. Which makes it even more frustrating that I find it so difficult to haul myself out of bed.
But this morning - a Saturday!!! - I woke up at 6:00, I didn't hit snooze even once, & met the morning with a fabulous Ashtanga class at Tulaa yoga on Naaman's Road. Since then, I finished a bunch of chores that I thought would take most of the day, and even managed to spend a few hours knitting:
This is the beginning of a hat, knit with a lovely blue Rowan DK wool. I'm using my own pattern - it's a mini-honeycomb trim, then stocking stitch knit in the round. I'll include instructions in a later post. It's a simple and easy pattern that results in a very posh hat. It's also my first project knit continental style - I learned last weekend from this very helpful video. It wasn't difficult to pick up, and it's much faster than the English style I started knitting with.
I've gotten so much done this morning that I'm going to try to make this early-rising streak stick - lately I've been finding that I'm just not awake enough hours in the day to get done everything that I want to get done. I have a lot of projects I'm working on. Knitting projects, health projects, and running projects (5K season is beginning! More on that later.) - so if I'm going to make any progress, I'm going to have to start living a more focused life.

i enjoyed reading your information. The pictures are great. Talk to you soon. Love, Mom
